Why UnCorked?

Have you ever wondered where to go on a weekend that is relatively inexpensive, relaxing and has gorgeous scenery? UnCork a bottle and share the ride with us through Virginia Wine Country with some occasional detours…

In the Charlottesville area we have an abundance of places to go and things to do that attract people from the Washington D.C. area, Maryland, North Carolina and all over the Commonwealth of Virginia. Visiting vineyards and wineries can be the sole purpose of your weekend trip or the icing on the cake after visiting historic sites. We like to take a hike in the mountains and then treat ourselves to a glass of wine sitting on a deck with fantastic views!

This is supposed to be a fun page illuminating some wine adventures and travel around Charlottesville, Albemarle, Nelson, Greene and Madison Counties.  Hopefully, the intent is to provide a little more detail than what you can find on a website.  Another passion that we have is an enthusiastic desire to see local businesses succeed. It’s a tough world to get small businesses going and wineries in Virginia are typically small scale production, family owned operations. Other businesses intersect with wineries and deserve our attention and support, for example,    The Virginia Shop at Barracks Road.

We live here and enjoy doing business as local Realtors with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate III and know our way around. Originally from Texas, we love our home and lifestyle in Virginia! We love Welcoming You Home to Charlottesville!…after all, Virginia is for Lovers!

    1. Thanks, Terrie! Glad you like the blog! Please subscribe for future posts! This is a new blog and I’m having a great time meeting the winemakers, tasting room hosts and managers, as well as the vineyard managers! I just have to keep my wine consumption under control so I can write about the experience 😉
